Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is paid in addition to main school funding and is used to ensure that no child is disadvantaged through financial hardship or personal circumstances. At The Wells Free School, Pupil Premium will be used to develop and resource opportunities for individual children in order to remove any potential barriers to learning and to ensure equality of opportunity. This may be through the use of specialist staff, employment of additional support staff, provision of extra curricular activities or specialist services according to the specific needs of our pupils.
From September 2026, free school meals are changing. If your family receives Universal Credit and earns less than £7400 per year, your child will be a targeted free school meal child and the school will continue to receive pupil premium funding for them. If your family, receives Universal Credit but earns more than £7400, your child will be an extended free school meal child. They will be eligible for a free school meal but no other benefits.
The amount of Pupil Premium the school receives is dependent upon:
- pupils who are eligible for targeted free school meals
- children who have been continuously looked after for more than six months
- children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces.
